All successful people give back! It’s a cardinal law and one that works. Not only does it feel good, volunteering is a great service to help others. Volunteering can take place in any venue, in person, or online. It’s easy, and usually only requires your desire to help people plus a little of your time. You set the days and hours of your volunteer service.

Connect, Relax, and Release Stress

Volunteering helps you to relax mentally and physically and offers an opportune time to meet successful people in your community. Making new contacts is a fresh experience and helps you to see and learn about the world around you from different points of view. The rewards are limitless.

Do Something You Love

Volunteering is not boring. Sure, if you pick the first thing you can think of without heart or interest, it might be. But if you pick something you love, it is far from it.

If you are interested in music, join a club and help out with gigs and promotions. If you love baseball, volunteer for the local Little League, even if you do not have children in the program. If you want to help the needy, volunteer at food banks! The list is endless, and you can do whatever kind of volunteering you want to do. You can volunteer at one organization for a while, then switch to another, and then another, and all people will be extremely glad to have your help!

Why Do People Volunteer?

It is fun, feels good, helps others, and opens space within yourself! Helping others can fulfill a desire to do something outside of your normal routine, to break out of a rut, and experience new adventures, new ways of thinking, and new friendships.

Benefits of Volunteering

Volunteering isn’t just to bolster your résumé. There are many benefits to getting out and donating your time.

Weird sound wakes up dormant brain cells

At first, I thought our equipment was malfunctioning…

But after verification from my colleagues at Columbia University, we confirmed it:

This specific 7-second sound pattern literally "reawakens" dormant brain cells.

During a study, the brain activity patterns of our senior volunteers started matching those of people in their 20s and 30s…

It triggers what we're calling the "Genius Wave" - a unique brain state where:

  • Memories Become Crystal Clear…
  • Mental Fog Disappears…
  • Sharp Thinking Returns…
  • And Your Mind Feels Decades Younger…

The best part?

There is no meditation, brain games, or expensive equipment required.

Make New Friends

There may be times when you feel the need to step out of your skin and fulfill a need to give back to the community where you live. “Volunteering is a great way to meet new people, especially if you are new to an area. Volunteering also strengthens your ties to the community and broadens your support network, exposing you to people with common interests, neighborhood resources, and fun and fulfilling activities.”  Many professionals volunteer while still working, as do retired professionals with experience in related fields. It’s interesting to become friends with folks who have different viewpoints of the world, who have traveled, or who are social in a way that interests you. When you also connect with people through volunteering on a social level, as well, it becomes an extremely gratifying experience and adds highlights to your volunteer experience.

Volunteering as a family is also a wonderful way for all of you to meet neighbors and local businesspeople. The sense of community comes alive when your family volunteers together, whether it be sports or charitable events, and is an enriching experience to share.

Broaden Your Contacts

If you volunteer for a club or organization in your community, you meet other businesspeople in the area. This strengthens your ‘inner core’ of connecting with others who are like-minded. The social aspect of being accepted and connected within your community is fulfilling in many ways.

Expand Your Connections at Work

Many companies participate in charitable events regularly. Think about volunteering for the next company event, in which you can give back to the company and your fellow employees. If the company does not currently participate in these activities, perhaps you will be the one who can research a project for your company and head it up. This is a great way to make more friends within your career field and help you to make important business contacts.

The Joys of Giving Back

The joy of giving is priceless and produces positive vibrations within your mind and body that cannot be denied. Few emotions equate with those felt by giving selflessly to a person or an organization. That joy spreads throughout your body and helps release tension, clears your mind of worries, and opens your consciousness to creative energy. The joy of this type of giving cannot be bought, and is priceless in a way that can rarely be excelled.

Volunteering Is a Healthy Thing to Do!

When you get out of yourself and into doing for others, the body responds in a very healthy way. There are several health benefits to volunteering. Research found that volunteering reduces depression and anxiety, gives volunteers a sense of purpose, keeps people active, a sense of appreciation, and reduces stress. The bottom line is that there are no negatives to volunteering, and a ton of positives. No matter your age, volunteering is good for your mental and physical health.

Volunteer your way to success in whatever way you find appealing. There are no downsides to volunteering; how often do you find this in life?

Set yourself free and take advantage of it today!
