Brainiacs Who Talk to Themselves

If you have conversations with your inner self, you might be a very special individual. This inner dialogue is known as brain talk or intuition, and is like talking to a different personality other than yourself. Sometimes you might be called a brainiac when you think out loud to yourself while trying to figure out a solution to a problem.

But not everyone has this inner dialogue. In an article from October 2023 in How Stuff Works, “Those who do not experience inner speech may rely more on visualization to process their thoughts.” In this case, visualization is a tool that acts as a magnet, attracting to you the objects or situations that you ‘see’ in the visual realm and then bringing them into the physical realm.

What is the inner voice?

The inner voice is a tool that our human brain uses to help us understand a situation or a problem using our cognition. When we turn to our inner voice to talk things over, we access a higher part of our brain consciousness, such as intuition, which helps us to process, structure, and design the next steps we need to take. From How Stuff Works,  “It is also a key component of self-awareness and introspection, allowing individuals to reflect on their experiences, beliefs, and emotions.” If you have not tried talking it over with yourself, you might be surprised at how much advice your higher self gives your regular self.

The Little Voice Inside

Your inner voice also streams to you your thoughts and feelings from your subconscious mind, and your feeling nature. Sometimes you experience that ‘little voice’ inside that says turn left, instead of right. It’s time to speak up, or it’s time to shut up. Or it’s time to ask for a promotion, or wait. That inner voice should always be listened to, as it can also save your life. It can be an internal warning system when you meet someone new, when you are asked to do something you are not comfortable with, or when something sounds too good to be true. Your little voice inside is a monitor of everything you do, so as you become friends with your inner voice, you realize you literally cannot live without it.

Learn How To Talk To Your Inner Self

There are good ways and then there are better ways to have dialogue with your inner self, and it pays to learn the difference. In the article How Stuff Works, “When faced with a challenging decision, a person may engage in internal dialogue by weighing the pros and cons, considering their values and priorities, and ultimately arriving at a choice. Alternatively, when experiencing stress or anxiety, internal dialogue may involve self-calming techniques or negative self-talk that can either exacerbate or alleviate the emotional state.”

Ways To Start Your Inner Dialogue

Practice a chat: Start honing your inner dialogue session by practicing a meeting. Have a seat, call up your inner voice and say, “Let’s Chat. I have an issue today with Jane in the office, and I want to practice what I might say to her. I’ll be me, and you be Jane.” From there, have a conversation, with you playing both roles. See what happens. The more you practice this, the easier it will be.

Discuss money: Have a seat and call up your inner voice. “Okay, let’s talk things over. I want to make more money, and I need some suggestions. Do you have any ideas?” From there, see what comes to mind.

Love life: Have a seat and call up your inner voice. “I’m not happy with Joe. He is getting on my nerves. But he loves me, he says. And I love him, I say. But something is off. Is it me? Or is it Joe? What am I missing here? What am I not seeing?” From there, see what comes to mind.

It pays to remember that you always have the inner voice, but it is up to you to recognize it. It is there waiting for you, but it is your recognition of it that stimulates it to have a discussion with you.

Although it is spoken of as being something separate from yourself, you know that it’s not and is a part of your higher consciousness.

To better access your higher consciousness, practice mindfulness, meditation, and alone time.

Take some time to go for a walk by yourself, or a drive, or to grab a cup of coffee and read a book. Study the lives of great thinkers and of successful business people, and how they became successful.

Above all, rely on your gut instinct to give you good advice, and never ignore it.

Why Developing Your Inner Voice is Important to Your Career Path

Your inner voice has something no one else on earth has, and that is your best interest at heart. It knows you and loves you, and it is trustworthy. There is no one you can trust better than your inner voice.

If you are honest and trusting enough to let your inner voice speak honestly with you, you will never be sorry.

Be a brainiac, using your brain for the highest goals you have, and listen to your inner voice.
